The Finance Function in the A.P. Moller - Maersk Group employs more than 6,000 people working at assistant to executive level. Approximately 225 employees finance professionals are employed at the head office located in Copenhagen, Denmark, whereas the remainder works in one of our 325 offices located world-wide.

A.P. Moller - Maersk was founded in 1904, when 28-year-old Arnold Peter Møller partnered with his father to buy a second-hand steamer in their hometown of Svendborg, Denmark. It did not take long before the business outgrew its modest office in the family’s home, Villa Anna, and the A.P. Møller name was on its way to becoming a significant player in international shipping.
In 1965, Arnold Peter Møller passed away, leaving his son Mærsk Mc-Kinney Møller in charge of the growing family business. Mærsk Mc-Kinney Møller piloted the company through a period of steady growth and sustained success until he withdrew from day-to-day management in 1993, continuing to serve as Chairman of the Board until 2003. By then, thanks to Mærsk Mc-Kinney Møller’s foresight and enterprise, A.P. Moller - Maersk had reached its current position as a worldwide leader in shipping, energy and several related industries.
Today, A.P. Moller - Maersk is a modern global enterprise. But we are also a company that has stayed true to our roots – still embracing the core values that Arnold Peter Møller captured in the Danish expression rettidig omhu. With its rich resonances
of foresight, awareness, thoughtful consideration and attention to detail, this phrase has come to be known as “constant care”.
